We continue to believe that we have the technology and team in place to continue to serve your needs. We will continue to process and pay claims and provide the personal service our stakeholders expect and deserve. We have a dedicated response team to prevent or minimize any disruptions in service.

Member Appeals and Grievances
Appeal and grievance extensions
For appeals: As a result of the National Emergency, individuals with Delta Dental of Minnesota coverage through one of our commercial plans have additional time to file claims and/or appeals. Delta Dental of Minnesota will disregard the period from March 1, 2020, until sixty (60) days after the announced end of the National Emergency, (the “Outbreak Period”) when determining the date in which you must fi le a claim or appeal. Please note the end date of the National Emergency has not been released yet. This extension does not apply to Delta Dental of Minnesota’s Medicare Advantage or Medicaid plans.
For grievances: For March, April and May, Delta Dental of Minnesota will not close a grievance due to inability to reach the treating dentist. These grievances will remain pending, and members will be notified in writing that we will reopen the matter after dental offices reopen for preventive services.
New Teledentistry Options
Teledentistry provides the means for a patient to receive oral health consultation when the patient and dentist or dental professional are not able to meet in person.
In an effort to help keep dental emergencies out of hospital emergency rooms and allow dentists alternative ways to serve patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, Delta Dental of Minnesota will make an exception and reimburse emergency oral evaluations (DO140) completed via teledentistry in accordance with a member’s benefit plan allowance through July 1, 2021.
Please note that this teledentistry procedure coverage exception only applies to commercial group and individual members. Government program members should continue to follow DHS guidelines on teledentistry.
