MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Delta Dental of Minnesota is pleased to announce the opening of the Delta Dental Oral Health Center at Hennepin Healthcare. The oral health center – which occupies the fourth floor of the new six-story, 377,000 square-foot Hennepin Healthcare Clinic & Specialty Center – was made possible through a $4.6 million grant from the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation. It is the largest non-governmental grant ever received by Hennepin Healthcare.
“The oral health center is simply remarkable, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation,” said Mary Seieroe, DDS, Hennepin Healthcare chief of dentistry. This clinic will allow us to greatly expand oral health access for the most underserved people in our community.”
In addition to the clinic, the grant will fund dental services for highly complex patients who receive care in Hennepin Healthcare’s Coordinated Care Clinic. The clinic will increase oral health care access by approximately 60 percent, or an estimated 11,000 visits annually, for a total of 27,500 visits per year. This grant is a continuation of a longstanding partnership between Hennepin Healthcare and the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation, who share a longstanding commitment to improving oral health in the community.
“We are extremely excited to partner with such an outstanding organization committed to delivering greater access to oral health care,” said Rodney Young, chief executive officer and president at Delta Dental of Minnesota and chair of the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation. “The Delta Dental Oral Health Center will be an important step to help address unmet needs in our community.”
The Delta Dental Oral Health Center will see and treat the 85 percent of Hennepin Healthcare’s dental patients who are covered by public programs, are uninsured, or qualify as low-income residents. The clinic will also provide enhanced patient-centered care for all patients, especially children and people with special needs.
