Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation Launches Scholarship Program to Advance Diversity in Dentistry

MINNEAPOLIS (November 14, 2022) – Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation has teamed up with the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry to launch a new scholarship program to award the best and brightest of Minnesota’s underserved communities.

The new Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation Advancing Diversity In Dentistry Scholarship will educate future dentists and provide them the opportunity to return and practice in underserved communities, increasing access to oral health care in vulnerable populations.

“A diverse workforce is critical to the success of the dentistry profession,” says Delta Dental of Minnesota board member, Dr. Michael Zakula. “This investment in higher education provides students from underrepresented communities greater access to exceptional dental education and training.”

Two scholarships will be awarded in each of the next three years, beginning in fall 2023. The scholarship will cover full tuition, room and board, and other academic expenses to attend the School of Dentistry.
