Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation Awards 11 Grants Totaling Nearly $2 Million in 2013 Year-End Giving

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (March 5, 2014) - Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation awarded 11 grants totaling $1,949,800 in year-end giving to programming that supports Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation’s mission of improving oral health as it recognizes the connection to overall health in Minnesota. Complete list of grants included below.

Cancer Legal Line: Legal Triage for Cancer Survivors, Minnesota Statewide, $50,000 Provide targeted outreach to Minnesota cancer patients and survivors experiencing dental and oral health complications as a direct result of cancer diagnosis and/or treatment.

Children’s Dental Services: Child Dental Screening & Follow-Up Program, Minnesota Statewide, $150,000* Preventive dental screenings and follow-up programs for low-income children in Minnesota.

Gillette Children’s Hospital Foundation: Dental Clinic Expansion, Minnesota Statewide, $250,000

Assist with dental clinic expansion to increase oral health services for patients with disabilities and complex medical conditions.

Hennepin County: Emergency Department, Oral Pain Diversion, Minneapolis, $45,800 Care coordination for low-income, uninsured patients seeking oral health care in the emergency department.

Minnesota Dental Foundation: Minnesota Mission of Mercy, Minnesota Statewide, $450,000* Provide free dental care to 2,000+ patients over a two-day period.

Minnesota Dental Foundation: Retired Dentist Program, Minnesota Statewide, $25,000 Pilot program created to assist with fulfillment of regulatory requirements to maintain volunteer dental services.

Mississippi Headwaters Area Dental Health Center: Expansion of Services, NW Minnesota, $40,000 Expand dental care to low-income, uninsured patients.

National Children's Oral Health Foundation: Minnesota Oral Health Zone Program, Greater Minnesota, $100,000 Oral health education and prevention to underserved children in Minnesota.

Normandale Community College Foundation: Dual Licensure Innovation, Minnesota Statewide, $178,000 Support redesign of dental curriculum for workforce development and expansion.

University of Minnesota Foundation: Rice Regional Dental Clinic, SW Minnesota, $561,000* Expanding dental care access to underserved children ages 1-3.

University of Minnesota Foundation: Native American Community Dental Clinic, Minneapolis, $100,000 Expand outreach and provide care coordination to improve access to pediatric oral health services.
